Becky Russell

When Becky was 9 years old, she took a set of drum sticks from her brother’s room and began banging on the furniture.  This is where it all started. Soon thereafter, Becky’s mom bought a toy snare followed by a Jr. Drum kit. During 6th grade, Becky relocated to Nashville from Ohio. She joined the school band which had already started at the beginning of the school year. On her first day, she tied for first chair, and jealousy broke loose when the last chair boy heckled her.  He even teased her about the toy drum and punched her in the arm a couple times. So, Becky beat him up. In the middle of her sophomore year, Becky moved to Coronado.  It was like going from the sticks to paradise.  She played in the concert band in Coronado for one day and decided to keep her drumming at home. In the 1980's, Becky jumped back into the music scene.  This time drumming in garage bands, performing local casuals and later performing in San Diego night clubs.

Other bands followed: 'Bonneville 7’ a psycho-billy band with two billy brats Pip Hancock and Johnny Bowler from well-known UK group called Guana Batz.  Becky has played in the Gas Lamp Quarter and all over San Diego County subbing and playing with Chill Boy, The Stiletto's, Big Rig Deluxe, The Robin Henkel Band with Billy Watson and Kelly Rucker, Cash Kings, JumpStart, The Stoney B Blues Band, The Rhythm Ranchers, The Lance Diecmann Band, The Boards, Phil Diiorio Band, Sickstring Outlaws and many others including The Flipside Burners.

Currently Becky plays with Joe Wood & The Lonely Ones and Charles Burton Blue Band and her own band Bonneville 7.
