Tim "Figg" Newton
Tim "Figg" Newton’s passion for drums has been around since before he could walk and talk. He was introduced to drums at a very early age, performing his very first drum solo in church at the tender age of 4. He was accepted into the San Diego School of Creative & Performing Arts in 7th grade. His talents were quickly noticed and he was advanced to the highest levels of band: Wind Ensemble, and Jazz band, in which he was the lead drummer. After completing high school, Tim went on to study two years of music at Grossmont Community College.
In 2008, Tim participated in the Guitar Center DrumOff, a nation-wide competition that consists of over 5,000 drummers. He was a grand finalist which consisted of the top 5 drummers in the nation. Tim has shared the stage and/or recorded with the likes of DJ logic, The Earful, Mary Mary, Tonex, Sully & the Blue Eyed Soul and more.
Tim's musical influences include; Gospel, R&B, Funk, Pop, Rock, Fusion and Latin. He spends hours practicing almost daily, and lives firmly by the motto "You get out, what you put in." He is well known for his great ear, ability to learn quickly, and ability to play many styles of music.
